Crosscutting is a technique in carpentry that runs counter to the grain and exposes the ring structure and core of the trunk. It is a delicate cut, most often causing a rough finish as a dull or rough blade tears it's way through the wood. With a sharp enough and fine enough blade a rich patina of concentric rings is exposed, showing how the tree grew over the years and what challenges were faced and overcome. Our Crosscut charm captures the feel, with a chunky shape and hewn rings.
