The Celtic Cross has it's roots in the long dark ages of Ireland. The Celts, or coastal dwellers, lived in clans in what would become modern day England and Ireland. Their beliefs followed various forms of nature and seasonal worship, the sun being one of the most powerful of the demigods or images as it was literally life for their crops and flocks. As Christianity moved across Europe and into the British Isles the beliefs were absorbed and transformed, the followers of the sun became the followers of the Son. The image of the sun became one with the cross, represented as the halo emerging from the center of the cross, now representing the brilliance and divine radiance of Christ.
