The Heart symbol, known throughout the world as the sign of romance and love, has it's roots in late Renaissance art. In medieval art the heart was depicted as sort of an upside down pinecone shape, the modern symbol for the romantic heart began appearing in period art in approximately the mid 14th to 15th centuries. Much speculation has been made about the meaning of the shape, but the origins are unclear. Regardless, the symetrical shape became popular and remains to this day as the leading symbol to denote romance and love. Our Lace Heart charm is a straightforward outline, highly stylized with a complex cut out design, and is one of our most popular charms.
